Fundraising
I have a big announcement to make. I have opened my very first Etsy
shop. For those of you out there who don't know what Etsy is, it is a
place to sell your handmade goods. My shop is called Fish Sticks For Africa. I opened a shop in order to help raise funds for our adoption of twin boys from Africa.
It would make me so happy if you would spread the word to your friends and family through Facebook (which I don't do), Twitter or email.
I made a few sling bags out of blue jeans and they are listed individually. If they sell well, then I will make more. My daughter LOVES hers to hold her Kindle Fire.
The main item is my t-shirts. I applique them by cutting out the t-shirt and adding a backing knit fabric. I started by making one for our school last year, reading GCA. Then recently I tried one of the country of Africa with our country marked with a hand sewn heart. I have been stocking up on adult, youth and children's t-shirts at discounted prices so that I can make these to order. I am in the process of making some for our cousins with the cut-out of Turkey and trying a sample shirt of Tennessee with a heart on Nashville.

Thank you so much for rejoicing with us about our referral.
As posting photos can be a safety issue, our agency has advised us not to post any photos.

More Than We Ask or Imagine!
Yesterday was a very exciting day for us and tonight was just as wonderful.
My Man and I had been praying specifically this week that God would make it very clear to us what kiddos would join our family. Referrals can be wonderful, yet difficult all the same.
Adoption brings new things into life that birthing children does not present. A birth mom doesn't choose the gender of her babies. Naturally, without intervention, she has no say in the timing of their arrival. When I had to schedule an induction with number 4, it felt weird and unnatural to me to choose my child's birthday. When adopting, it's normal and natural to give preferences to genders and ages of children who you want to join your family forever. Even though this is how the adoption process works, it still seems a bit strange to me to have options and preferences.
In March, My Man suggested we try to adopt 2 babies at once; twins were suggested as our number one choice. Boys were my preference only for the one reason of balancing out the gender of the Fish family. But when it came down to it, it felt strange to say we wanted one gender over the other. What if God had other plans? We left the gender open to whatever the Lord would have to give us. When I mentioned twins as our first preference in our home study, our agency explained that twins and siblings were unlikely and not common. We told them that unrelated children, close in age were fine also.
Four days after being placed in the "pool" of referrals, I received a phone call from Indiana. She had just received word of twin boys under 2. When I opened the pictures from the email, I burst into tears. There they were....our Fish Sticks. I quickly texted My Man their pictures and his reply was "YES! I praise the Lord God of creation!" We just knew.
Ephesians 3:20-21 has always been a favorite verse of mine.
He has done immeasurably more than we could have asked or imagined. He had chosen before time that these 2 twin boys across the ocean would be part of our forever Fish family and He laid it on our hearts months ago.
The word was shared tonight with the Fish Sticks, followed by emails and texts to family and then a few close friends. There is much rejoicing tonight. Those 2 little Fish Sticks might even be able to hear the screaming and crying tears of joy if they listen tonight in the heart of Africa.
May God send His angels to kiss their foreheads tonight and tell them they are loved!
